Here are the details as of February 1, 2009. We had our first meeting on Dec 6th 2008.
This club will be organized as a nonprofit FFF Charter club. This means that all members must be a member in good standing of the Federation of Fly Fishers. This will fall under umbrella of the Oregon Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers (ORCFFF).
Current information, plans and suggestions:
- FFF Charter Club
- Organizers: Sherry Steele, Rocky Maley, and Deanna Maley
- The club name is Central Oregon Fly Tyers Guild (COFTG)
- The club will be based in Sisters, OR with meeting locations in Sisters and other towns/cities in Central Oregon.
- We meet once a month on the 3rd Saturday for an all day tie. (holiday & fishing schedule can be modified as needed)
- Guild specific patterns are Freestyle Full Feather Wing Fly, Classic Salmon Fly, Spey & Dee Flies, and Ref (Forgotten Flies) Classic Patterns.
- Part of our mission is to teach the art of tying classics and to enjoy sharing tying skills.
- ORCFFF participation will be an avenue to tying these beauties and donating them as framed art to FFF clubs for their use in raising funds targeted for education and conservation projects.
- All skill levels will be welcome. Beginner tyers plus professional level tyers, everyone is welcome to join the fun.
- We will organize a teaching team for the meetings. Beginners can work at their own pace assisted by one or more advanced tyers and advanced tyers can tackle the more complex patterns.
- Facilities for the meetings will be setup to accommodate a small (at the fly shop 8 max) or large group (30+) at another location in Sisters.
- Club Dues will be discussed at the February 7th meeting.
